Seglem, Karl
Karl Seglems new band represents a continuation of the artistic efforts he has devoted to various groups since the beginning of the 1990s. This ensemble consists of a combination of top-quality traditional and improvisational musicians, and varies in number from four to eight members. The core musicians of the group are Karl Seglem (tenor sax/rams horn), Håkon Høgemo (electric Hardanger fiddle), Bjørn Kjellemyr (bass) and Helge Norbakken (percussion). Other musicians appear as guests. As can be heard on a number of releases, Karl Seglem often uses Hardanger fiddle music as a point of departure in creating new musical spheres. He is regarded as one of Norways foremost tenor saxophone players, and has received high praise for his distinctive, unique voice. His band generates dynamic soundscapes that wipe out the boundaries between musical genres. This is world music from Norway.
