Ljones, Andreas
Andreas Ljones (born 1978) is a dynamic folk musician with a modern approach. He plays mainly folk music from Gudbrandsdalen, and studied with fiddlers such as Knut Kjøk, Amund Bjørgen and Rolv Brimi. Andreas has won first prize at the National Contest for Traditional Music several times at different levels, and has competed there at the highest level on the ordinary fiddle for four years. He has studied under Sven Nyhus at the Norwegian Academy of Music since 1998, and in 2002 he was the first folk musician to begin studying for the most demanding performance degree there. Andreas works in a variety of genres, and his idiom has progressed from pure folk music to a more experimental type of music using the ordinary fiddle, Hardanger fiddle, willow pipe and electric fiddle with different processors.
