fribo_framside

The group Fribo, founded in 2002, consists of Anne Sofie Linge Valdal (vocals, willow flute and bodhran), Ewan MacPherson (guitar, mandola, Jew’s harp and cowbells), and Sarah-Jane Summers (fiddle, Hardanger fiddle and vocals). The three musicians combine traditional Norwegian vocal music with the Scottish and English folk music tradition. Since they began performing together, they have presented a number of concerts in Scotland, Denmark and Norway. They have recently signed a recording contract, and the CD “The Ha’ O’ Habrahellia” will be released on Fellside Recordings in January 2007. The group will then tour in Scotland, England and Scandinavia. Fribo plays a significant role in bringing Norwegian folk music to a wider audience, and makes a unique contribution in promoting Norwegian folk music abroad. The group has participated in competitions, given concerts and received awards and grants.

Fribo has received an award from the Scottish Arts Council for creativity and development, to support the recording of their CD “The Ha’ O’ Habrahellia” (Fellside Recordings, 2007).
