Camilla Granlien Band

Camilla_Granlien

Folk-music-based band established by folksinger Camilla Granlien in 2003.

The point of departure for this band was the desire to compose music and adapt folksong melodies to texts by Tor Jonsson and Olav Aukrust from Gudbrandsdalen. Granlien herself can also trace her roots to this area. Joining her in the band are Anders E. Røine on bouzouki, guitar, banjo and Jew’s harp, Harald Høyvik on electric bass, and Andreas Ljones on fiddle. Jorun Marie Rypdal Kvernberg sometimes fills in for Andreas Ljones. The band members collaborate on their arrangements, and want the music to swing! The result reflects the efforts of four folk musicians who are confident in their stylistic knowledge of their own genre, while they are also influenced by rock and country. Since the Camilla Granlien Band’s first performance at “Prøverøret” in Oslo in 2003, the group has appeared at festivals and concert stages all over Norway. They were invited to perform at Folkelarm in 2005 and 2006.
