Russian top-class orchestra, modern dance from China and fiery world music will wow audiences during the 46th Festival of North Norway. The Festival is arranged in Harstad ad runs from 19-26 June. New voices from the North, such as those of Moddi, Máddji and Tonje Unstad, will also contribute to the expanded progrmme, which boasts 25 Norwegian premiere/self-podued productions and artists from 22 countries.

Datarock, Amparo Sánchez, Efterklang, Jaga Jazzist, Ojos de Brujo, Tony Allen, Ivan Lins and Miss Li will each play their respective evenings in Nordic Hall. The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain guests Norway for the first time; ditto for guitar virtuoso Chico Pinheiro from Sao Paulo. Other major names are Tsuumi Sound System, Jan Garbarek Group, Henning Gravrok, Hallgeir Pedersen Knock Out, a double concert with pianists Steve Dobrogosz and Olga Konkova, and then the Swedish folk music duo Hazelius Hedin, Vidar Vang, Nils Olav Johansen solo, Ingebjørg Bratland, Lisa Dillan, Ola + Lars Bremnes, Håvard Lund and Solveig Slettahjell. To mention only a few. From the Himalayas the festival will be visited by Dafa Band, court musicians who have collaborated musically with Knut Reiersruud, among others.

Sacred Music
Reiersruud, by the way, will perform with Povl Dissing and Ive Kleive in hymnist Grundtvig's spirit, Sinikka Langeland will guest the festival with "Maria's Song" in th company of Lars Anders Tomter and Kåre Nordstoga, and Lena Willemark rounds out the trio series in Trondenes Church with Svante enryson and Knut Johannessen. Hans-Ola Ericsson will perform an organ concert featuring a purely Bach repertoire.
