Knut Hamre from Hardanger, at the West Coast of Norway, has from the early 1970s been one of Norway's leading figures at the folk music scene. He has won several national competitions in traditional music arranged every year, and throughout the years he has created his own unique style which has inspired other musicians for decades.

These days he is releasing the new album "Ferd" (Journey) on the Norwegian label Grappa. The tunes on the CD form a whole that brings together diverse strands of Hamre's musical career.
The CD is ful of expression and intensity, combined with the sublime inner peace that is so characteristic of Knut Hamre's playing.

With this release, hardanger fiddle playing appears as a vibrant form of music that new generations can relate to.
